Halo Birthday

Wow! Let me say it again…wow! LOL. The birthday boy’s party has come and gone. ((wipe sweat from brow)) I posted about it before but this year my son’s theme for his party was HALO-a wildy popular video came. Believe me when I say there is almost nothing Halo related theme or otherwise in party stores. BUT do not doubt the creative genius of a mom on the hunt. Moms are the most creative women EVAH. I say this because it is the moms of the world that helped me pull off this party. After many online searches and nail biting desperation, I stumbled on tons of etsy, pinterest and facebook parties from moms who had the same challenge. Satisfy their kids with a theme that’s almost non-existent in the party world. Because those fabulous, wonderful moms shared their party jewels of wisdom, I too have decided to play it forward 🙂

So for venue we considered paintball or laser tag because Halo is a military style game. Due to travel and convenience etc we went with laser tag. Next was invitations which was easier than I expected. There are tons of customized images via www.etsy.com all based on this video game. We also decided to get the thank you cards from the lady we selected and had the results in 48 hours. Printing can be done at home or for a little extra professional touch I recommend a retailer with a photo kiosk like CVS or Walgreens. Once we had this accomplished, I considered all of the parties I’d looked at and selected party favors. I used an online discounter and picked camo sacks for the goodie bag. We filled it with camo pencils, vibrating grenades, dog tags, colored candy and camo bandanas. For an extra special touch, I found Halo water bottle labels and halo scratch offs from another etsy genius. SCORE. I picked up cupcakes with halo themed icing from a local cake decorator. For decorations, we mirrored the Halo game colors of blue, black and gray so it was easy to go to a dollar store of some type and get paperware, table cloths etc. On Amazon I found candy tins and used a video game theme for table settings by having PSP, NES and ATARI controllers filled with candy. (Never did find anything besides candy molds for the Xbox.) Below are a couple more pictures of the party stuff. Kids had a blast and the kiddo grinned the entire day.
