Friday Favorites: Kindle Surprises

So we’re getting close to the end of the month and it hit. Summer is almost over. Where did time go? I’m supposed to have fun and rest up for the school year but so far haven’t done that at all. I think I might have to actually schedule my fun in the coming weeks before I completely miss the summer.

Anyway on to what is becoming my favorite topic to blog: Friday Favorites- my kindle surprises. This week, I DL’d a couple of good reads.

The Alpha’s Daughter by Jacqueline Rhoades – If you’re a shifter lover, this book is right up your alley. Jazz is on the run from her dad and a forced mating so she steals a motorcycle to make her getaway. She ends up in a small town with a pack of wolvers (wolf shifters) and the gentle giant she refers to as Griz. The nickname is very appropriate since the town doctor has let himself go in the shaving department. But don’t worry, Griz is an Alpha all the way and I love how Rhoades handles the relationship between these two. Readers get a front row seat on watching Jazz grow to love Griz and vice versa. There are quite a few laughs along the way.

Falling for the Backup by Toni Aleo – From what I can tell, hockey romances seem to be on the rise again. I’ll be honest, it’s not usually my favorite. Especially when the authors add a touch of reality and the hero removes his fake teeth. Argh. Not in love with that idea. BUT I must say I was drawn to Toni Aleo’s cover first and the nice blurb on her story about a goalie back up and a random woman he meets on the plane ride home. Aynslee is focused on getting home as fast as possible when her landlord reveals a flooding in her basement. When Jordan spills her drink all over her dress on the flight, it’s the perfect wrap on her day. What’s better for Jordan is the fact that she doesn’t recognize him. The relationship and story are quick paced but the author handles the romance perfectly. Definitely enjoyed this one.
