I come from a fairly large family which is sometimes good and…sometimes bad. LOL. During the holidays we try to get together at various houses to celebrate the Christmas season. As the years have progressed we’ve added more games to the festivities. Heads up is a current favorite-nothing like seeing your cousins with a cellphone smacked to their forehead while they panic trying to guess an answer 🙂 At the most recent Christmas party we decided to try Lip Sync Battle. If you’ve never seen it I think it started with Jimmy Fallen. Please note exhibit A.

Hysterical, right? Well, we had 5 contestants (moi included) Much hilarity ensued. I will NOT be posting a video but below is a fruit tray we ordered from www.frucasion.com as well as the trophy that went to a cousin much to my dismay. ROFL. What do you do for the holidays? Comment to be entered for a chance to win (autographed books, gift cards or kindle fire) Contest open until 12/23 based on comments on the posts from the Christmas week blog ONLY (12/14-12/18) This means comment on any of the 5 blogs up until 12/23 midnight eastern standard time to be considered
Our Christmas usually starts on Christmas eve when we have our Rudolph Party, we all (almost all the time everyone is here) gather around the television with hillbilly horsderves which consist of summer sausage, cheese and crackers, with hot chocolate and cookies. The next morning all the kids and grandkids make the rounds to their parents house and then all converge here where the living room is a sea of wrapping paper and the house filled with love, laughter and the smell of the turkey roasting in the over.
Sonja that sounds amazing. Nothing like a full house to get you in the spirit. Not sure I’ve heard of hillbilly horsderves but I can guess and I love it 🙂 LOL
My mom is one of 9 kids, so I get ere big family thing. We play the dice game (shake the dice, get doubles, choose a wrapped prize, then once are gone, steal prizes from others). We each bring a wrapped white elephant gift and try to wrap them so they appear to be the BEST gift ever. We have the most fun stealing from each other. Everyone gets a present in the end and the kids and adults love it.
My mom is one of 8. I love white elephant 🙂
Mostly I sit among the cousins and their kids and their kids kids and listen to deer “lies” and fish tales. My family is very ….. country and I am a geek/ nerd so we don’t often have things in common, but the stories they tell are often hilarious and we remember those who are no longer with us as part of the telling.
That was some serious Lip Syncing Battling!
celebrate with family
We love to feed the Reindeers on Christmas Eve
All I do for Christmas is on Christmas Eve I get all of my boys gifts out and set up for the morning than on Christmas Day we go to my Mom’s and spend the rest of the day with family and friends ?
On Christmas Eve all the way to Christmas we watch holiday movies, listen to christmas music and stuff ourselves. I have a huge family so it’s nice to see everyone at different Christmas parties those two nights.
Your family sounds like a hoot! What fun you must have. My family and I don’t do anything as adventurous or entertaining but we manage to have fun with each other as we celebrate Christmas. We eat our big meal on Christmas eve and reserve Christmas day for a leisurely gift opening and ‘grazing’ on all the delicious Christmas leftovers and treats.
We have an early supper and after we clean up we play games. Some of our favorites are: Trouble, 10,000 (a dice game where different combination are worth different points), and Hand & Foot (card game with 6 decks; similar to Canasta). After some games, we take a break for dessert. The adults don’t exchange gifts, we just get some for the children.
We stay home and relax on Christmas Day. We have homemade pizza and other finger foods, watch movies, play board games, and do puzzles 🙂
Our family is small, but we get together… open presents… enjoy dinner together… have fun being around each other! 🙂
Yule Log – got to watch this on TV
Relaxing with the family, baking cookies with my mom, and watching the dogs shred the wrapping paper.
On Christmas Day, everyone gets a book and some chocolate in their stocking (there’s just my mom, my sister, my son and myself). Then we all go to separate bedrooms in the house and read (my son plays with his new toys instead of reading…ugh) and eat our chocolate until it’s time to get ready for Christmas dinner, which is usually at my aunt’s house.
Ok, I do know that this contest is in 2015, I just saw it while looking around your webpage and just thought I’d share with you our tradition anyways.
