Weekend Writing Warriors allows readers to see a snippet of a writers story. This week I’m sharing another 8 from my upcoming February release Torkel’s Chosen.
Torkel bit back his frustration as the females ran past his position in the sands. One after another they squealed and laughed as they selected his brethren. True Enotians with their blond hair and light-colored eyes.
“I’m not sure how this works. Do I just hand you the necklace or put it on your neck?”
Torkel jerked and glanced down at the short woman standing in front of him. He’d tried to ignore her presence when her footsteps slowed in front of him. “Pardon?”
Take time to see what others have to offer here.http://www.wewriwa.com/
Aw, he was almost not chosen.
Hey Cara
My hero has been rejected before so this scene is a big deal for him 🙂
I love his reaction here. He seems so surprised and somewhat doubtful that someone has actually chosen him. Really well done!
That’s what I was going for Evelyn 🙂
This pulled me right in and had me excited for both of them. Great snippet.
Thanks Alexis
Touching snippet and then there she is, short.OMG! I almost laughed with joy at the possible misfits getting together. Like a high school thing.Sad, well written and then hope. Way to go.
LoL glad you enjoyed Charmaine
Love his surprised reaction. I really liked the setup of their relationship. 🙂
It was fun to write Lorien
So this is a new experience for both of them then. I think he’ll find that she will surprise him a lot in the future too. Nice beginning for them.
Exactly Kate. Thank you
Tease, I know that’s the whole point, definitely enjoyed. Another cover to drool over as well.
Thanks Beth 🙂 Glad you like the cover.
Nice. You did such a good job of showing what’s going on –in few words. This is a choosing ceremony of sorts? I like his reaction. And her words seem almost like nervous chatter… Intriguing! I’d read more.
Teresa did you get a secret arc? LOL. That’s exactly what it is. We may need to chat about your skills of perception. I’d like the next mega million numbers please 🙂
OK, I’m totally hooked already! What a fun scene, can;t wait to learn more. Terrific snippet!
Thank you Veronica !
He should give her a shot. Sometimes the most non-descript people turn out to be the very best!
I can relate to Torkel. I was always chosen last for teams at school, and I was a wallflower at the dances.
I like underdog stories.
I think the quote is he who laughs last etc. Underdog movies and books are the greatest.
